Scholarship Program


Milan International Film Festival (MIFF) is providing four students the opportunity to study at the renowned Los Angeles Film School (LAFS) in Hollywood, in the hub of the Entertainment Industry and recently named
"...one of the best-equipped private learning centers in the country" by The Hollywood Reporter.

MIFF has always been committed to facilitating the advancement of aspiring filmmakers around the world, and LAFS provides optimal environment and resources for cultivating and augmenting talent and creativity (for further information about the school please visit www.lafilm.com).

Since 2001, MIFF and LAFS have collaborated to award deserving students the tuition necessary to attend the film program of the school. This year four scholarship are offered to students who are interested in Film Production, Editing, Cinematography, Sound and Production Design, Directing and Screenwriting.

1) 1-Year MIFF Scholarship (for citizens all over the world) consist of a $29,000 grant to attend the Los Angeles Film School for one year. Attendance is mandatory.
Deadline: sent by mail within
December 30, 2003.
(must be received within January 9, 2004)
RESULTS: 1-Year MIFF Scholarship winner is Simone Bartesaghi.
Second runner up is Daniel Bellomo, and the third is Angela Mauri (if by 6 months the winner will not be able to go, the Scholarship will shift to the second and eventually to the third applicant winner)


2) 8-Week Basic MIFF Scholarship (for citizens all over the world) consists of a $4,930 grant to attend The Los Angeles Film School for the first 8 weeks of the 1-Year Immersion Filmmaking Program. Attendance is mandatory.
Deadline: sent by mail within December 30, 2003.
(must be received within January 9, 2004)
RESULTS: 8-Week MIFF-CINEMAVVENIRE Scholarship winner is Giuliano Villa.
Second runner up is Cassio Tolpolar, and the third is Simone Bartesaghi (if by 6 months the winner will not be able to go, the Scholarship will shift to the second and eventually to the third applicant winner)


3) 8-Week MIFF-CINEMAVVENIRE Scholarship (for Italian citizens) consists of a $4,930 grant to attend The Los Angeles Film School for the first 8 weeks of the 1-Year Immersion Filmmaking Program

RESULTS: 8-Week MIFF-CINEMAVVENIRE Scholarship winner is Daniel Bellomo.
Second runner up is Guglielmo Zanette, and the third is Leonardo Mariani (if by 6 months the winner will not be able to go, the Scholarship will shift to the second and eventually to the third applicant winner)


4) 8-Week Basic MIFF-NIAF Scholarship (for NIAF associated U.S. citizens)
consists of a $4,760 grant to attend The Los Angeles Film School for the first 8 weeks of the 1-Year Immersion Filmmaking Program.
Attendance is mandatory.
Deadline: sent by mail within February 16, 2004.
(must be received within February 27, 2004)
RESULTS: 8-Week Basic MIFF-NIAF Scholarship winner is Andrew Catauro.
Second runner up is Daniel Bellomo, and the third is Giuliano Villa (if by 6 months the winner will not be able to go, the Scholarship will shift to the second and eventually to the third applicant winner)

The applications must be sent within the deadlines at the given addresses. Selected students will be informed and contacted for an interview. The awarded students will be informed as notified in the application.

*Due to LAFS internal changes of some course cancellation, the 6-Weeks Digital Filmmaking Program have been substituted by the first phase (8 weeks) of the 1-year standard course of filmmaking. Once the student will have terminated the first basic period of studying LAFS will release a statement of accomplishment and will offer the option to continue the studies through a payment of the remain fee (value of the 8 week first phase course is $4.930 for International Students and $4,760 for U.S. citizens)
